Team Communication

Discord and Slack

For team communications, we’ll use both Discord and Slack. Discord’s simple user interface will allow us to efficiently navigate its layout. We’ll be able to create announcement channels, so important information won’t be buried throughout the day with our water station chatter. Discord isn’t perfect, and when it comes to user threads, is still lacking in comparison to Slack. As such, we’ll use slack alongside Discord.

Document Sharing

DropBox and Google Drive

For word documents, slideshow presentations, spreadsheets, and other small text files, Google docs is the simplest way to effectively share, view and edit. For larger files, programs, graphics, and more, Dropbox is the fastest way to download and share files. Although google drive would also allow us to share files, I believe the interface with dropbox is simpler and easier to use, as you can download the program and access it in your file explorer.

Version Control 

GitHub

GitHub is one of the most used programs out there when it comes to version control. With a simple user interface and the GitHub desktop app, it’s easy to clone repositories, edit them, and branch off them before pushing the final work to the main document. With history, you’ll be able to view past edits. It’s also extremely easy to share our document so we can peer review each other’s work.

Prototyping

Figma and Figjam

Figma and Figjam are very similar applications with slightly different use cases. When designing flow charts/diagrams and brainstorming, Figjam has you covered, we can also have a mood board, for Amber “Who is Amber? Idk.” When creating a high-fidelity wireframe design or a mockup prototype Figma is the industry standard.

Time Tracking

ezClocker

ezClocker allows us to clock in and out of work and view/create schedules. The GPS functionality of this software will not be used.

Project Management

Trello

Trello is a simple way to display tasks, goals and progress within a project. We can list all tasks needing to get completed and create multiple developments progresses ex: ToDo, Prototyping, Development, Testing, Completed.

Code Testing

Test Rails

Is versatile software that will allow us to manage test cases, plans and runs. They have a large testing coverage, with real-time insights; it is also integrated with issue trackers and test automation.

Digital Marketing Analytics And SEO

Semrush

Semrush is one of the most effective tools out there when it comes to Digital Marketing Analytics and SEO. From some perspective, 30% of fortune 500 companies use Semrush. But the main reason is their CEOs will eat their hat if you can find another platform that does the same thing, that’s a pretty bold statement and someone I want to support.

Page Speed Testing

Page Speed

There isn’t much to say about this one; it’s a free tool and allows us to test any webpage for its load speed for both mobile and desktop. The testing field and results are a little lacklustre, but it’s free, and it does the job.

We were given a small budget, and they didn’t factor in coffee, so I needed to make a budget cut somewhere.
